New Release Round-Up 07-26-24
The Police - Synchronicity (Deluxe Edition) - A&M
4 LP set on standard black vinyl with 60-page, lavish color book featuring unseen material, new liner notes and interviews, archive memorabilia and photos, printed inner sleeves and four art print photographs, all housed in a hardback slipcase. Limited Edition.
Beastie Boys - Ill Communication - (Deluxe Edition) - BEASTIE BOYS JV-MLT
Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Beastie Boys’ multi-platinum Ill Communication album, this limited-edition deluxe reissue is a rare version of the album that was originally released as a limited run in 2009. Long out-of-print and sought after by fans and collectors, it features lenticular cover art and includes a bonus LP with 12 bonus tracks (remixes, B-sides and rarities), all housed in a rigid slipcase and pressed on 180g vinyl.
Cults - To The Ghosts - Imperial
Cults sound like the moment dawn breaks. Akin to light piercing a dark corner, the multi-platinum breakout New York duo temper shadowy cinematic soundscapes with flickering melodic singalongs.
To the Ghosts, their 5th LP, crystalizes this sonic texture. Featuring the singles "Onions", "Left My Keys", "Crybaby", and "Hung The Moon".
Wild Rivers - Never Better - Nettwerk
We had a conversation recently where we realized that we've been a band for almost 10 years. When we started Wild Rivers way back when, we had never played a real concert before. When we made our first record it was our first time stepping into a real studio. We barely even knew each other when we started this band. Since then we've played a thousand shows, recorded over 30 songs, and become a family. When we set out to record 'Never Better', we felt like we were at a new stage of the band. By that point, we'd put in the hours and all began to feel totally self assured in what we were about to do. We wanted to bring everything we've learned over the years and all that we've been through as a group to the project. We chose to trust our guts and move quickly and confidently in every decision, second guessing ourselves as little as possible. In having this mindset, we were able to completely let loose and go deeper into the process, finding new ways of recording live, swapping instruments, and turning these songs on their heads. We couldn't have made this record a few years ago.We approached this record with the mindset, 'this is who we are'. We aren't pretending to be something we're not, or trying to sound like anyone else. We wanted it to feel easy. We wanted the stories to be real. We wanted to show our true selves as best we could. We're proud of who we've become as people and as a team. We truly feel like we're having the most fun with music that we've ever had, and in the most exciting stage of our lives. We're never better.

Louis Armstrong - Louis In London - Verve
Louis Armstrong made a greater impact on American popular music than any other single artist before or since. "What A Wonderful World" became his biggest commercial success, first in the UK and decades later in the rest of the world. Armstrong traveled to England to celebrate this unexpected hit and gave his last great performance, which found him looking back at his entire musical career. That performance, recorded at BBC studios, was miraculously captured in high fidelity audio and video, and we are proud to release this collection for the first time.
Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else - Blue Note Records
Is that what you wanted, Alfred we hear in Miles Davis unmistakable rasp at the end of One for Daddy-O, making it clear that the legendary trumpeter was not just playing the role of sideman on Somethin' Else. The alto saxophonist was a member of Davis' band at the time, and the depth of their musical camaraderie lifts this session up to rarefied heights throughout. Pianist Hank Jones, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Art Blakey round out the quintet on this timeless classic. Indie Exclusive LP on 180g blue vinyl. Limited Edition.
Lee Morgan - The Sidewinder - Blue Note Records
Released in 1964, Lee Morgan's magnum opus, The Sidewinder, was both a comeback and a coronation. The prodigious trumpeter debuted on Blue Note in 1956 at the age of 18, but personal problems in the early '60s forced him off the scene. His rebound turned out to be The Sidewinder, featuring tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, pianist Barry Harris, bassist Bob Cranshaw, and drummer Billy Higgins. The album became his most significant commercial success, fueled by the irrepressible title track. Indie Exclusive LP on 180g blue vinyl. Limited Edition.

What's New 7-19-24
Role Model's sophomore album is inspired by homesickness, heartbreak, and the process of redefining oneself. It’s a folk-tinged, lyric driven album featuring 13 new songs including "Oh Gemini" and "Deeply Still in Love." And though some of the tracks do have darker themes, you can still find a balance of nostalgic, summery vibes.
Smooth keyboard washes, subtly propulsive rhythms, and restrained guitar provide a lush backdrop for the band’s signature vocal collages as their sixth full-length, But I’ll Wait For You, evokes the sounds of a broken heart, trying to cling on to the tiniest glimmer of hope that a relationship can still be salvaged.
With the release of their third album, X’s, Cigarettes After Sex finally takes center stage as not just one of today’s preeminent indie bands, but as one of the most globally accomplished acts across any genre. Filled with raw, imagistic, sometimes smutty vignettes set to entrancing, slow burn pop songs, bandleader Greg Gonzalez captures every emotion a romantic arc inspires.
On the Color Green’s second full-length—their first as a quartet—they ground their cosmic jams in earthy melodies, drawing from ‘60s SoCal folk-r0ck, ‘70s classic rock, ‘80s underground rock, ‘90s psychedelic dance-rock, and many other sources. It’s a meditation on loss, grief, confusion, frustration, and the clarity to which they all lead.
Louis Armstrong traveled to England to celebrate this unexpected hit, “What A Wonderful World”, and gave his last great performance, which found him looking back at his entire musical career. That performance, recorded at BBC studios, was miraculously captured in high fidelity audio and video, and is now being released for the first time.
On sophomore album, revered Nashville troubadour Bones Owens continues to evolve his cultured rock songwriting while capturing the energy of his renowned live shows. Love Out of Lemons collects deeply grooving snapshots of carefree times and top-down drives with subtleties that linger long after the party’s over.
Glasgow’s songwriting giants Travis return with their tenth studio album. Produced by Tony Hoffer (Air, Beck, Phoenix), L.A. Times was written by Fran Healy in his studio on the edge of Skid Row, Los Angeles, the city he has called home for the last decade. He describes L.A. Times as Travis’ “most personal album since The Man Who”.
