The sometime Wilco sideman retreats into the studio on his own, burying himself in shape-shifting overdubs of acoustic and electric guitar (though surprisingly more of the former than the latter), not to mention dobro, lap steel and zither. The new material includes two ambitious suites, one a wild foray into micro-tonality.
