Released in July 2006 via the World?Circuit label, Savane was Ali?Farka?Toure's final solo album, and a deeply resonant "farewell" work. Recorded in Bamako, Mali with his specially assembled down-home ngoni group, and often acclaimed as his finest album, Savane is both one of the most traditional and seemingly the most blues drenched of Ali's recordings. 2026 celebrates the 20th anniversary of this landmark album.
