What's New 8-4-23
Victory provides an insight into the soul-bearing vulnerability and supreme songcraft that Cian has demonstrated through his career. For him, it represents the culmination of a lifelong dream. But even more significantly, it represents a triumph in the face of insurmountable odds in which his mother’s selfless bravery, determination and support changed his future for the better.
Focusing on melancholic, emotional guitar-infused ballads, the ALLTY series has become a staple in Trippie’s discogrpahy – melding him into the superstar he is today. As the Ohio rapper puts it, “This is gonna be, if not the best body of music I’ve ever did, one of them, for sure. I’m not trying to be experimental with this project, just drop straight Trippie Redd hits.”
Religiously is an impactful blend of thunderous stadium anthems and introspective ballads from the gravel-voiced Illinois native. Amongst the polished production, however, there's a refreshing allegiance to traditional instrumentation and moments where Zimmerman truly excels, particularly in the more reflective, vulnerable offerings.
A collection of Garcia’s most beloved solo studio recordings and collaborations with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. Contains 16 remastered recordings including “Sugaree,” “They Love Each Other,” and “Rubin & Cherise,” among others, highlighting the performances that helped enshrine the The Dead and Garcia in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
These are insanely tight, bodybuilder-sculpted rock songs, and while Wolfgang Van Halen (son of Eddie) dresses each in his six-string wizardry it’s all commendably contained. Arguably, the music is so big that its best ideas get lost in the echo of its heavy footsteps, but Mammoth II remains, inarguably, a worthy follow-up to that equally muscular debut.
McCormick’s massive collection features never-before-heard performances not only from musicians who became icons in their own right—including Lightnin’ Hopkins and Mance Lipscomb—but also, crucially, performers whose names may be unfamiliar to even the most devoted blues fans and scholars. Spanning gospel, ragtime, country blues dirges and the unclassifiable music of George “Bongo Joe” Coleman.

Teenage Wrist - Still Love - Epitaph
Over the past eight years Teenage Wrist have continually evolved their sound, a process that’s peaking with their third full-length, Still Love. Reaching new heights in both scope and execution, the album sees the duo—Marshall Gallagher (vocalist, guitarist, bassist) and Anthony Salazar (drums, vocalist, percussion)—producing the album themselves to handcraft their most expansive collection of songs to date from the ground up. The result is a self-realized collection of songs that saw the band borrowing vintage gear, bringing in friends in the form of members from 311 vocalist/turntablist Doug “SA” Martinez and Softcult and incorporating tasteful pop sensibilities to craft a collection of songs that redefines the band’s sound while staying true to their guitar-driven roots.
Skindred - Smile - Earache Records

Vince Gill and Paul Franklin - Sweet Memories (The Music of Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys) - MCA Nashville
Vince Gill and Paul Franklin team up for a special tribute to Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys. The album includes 11 tracks. From the foreword from Country ICON, Bill Anderson, they have taken their admiration for Ray Price to the next level… the students honoring the teacher with one of the finest true-country tributes of all time. It’s more than a tribute, though…it’s Vince’s and Paul’s way of saying “thank you” to one of the masters who helped define the genre while influencing them greatly. There’s no doubt in my mind that Ray would be as thrilled by this collection as Vince was watching him on that hot Georgia night years ago
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Africa Unite - Island
The album, Africa Unite, portrays two worlds colliding from a whole new generation of Afro-fused musicians reinterpreting Bob Marley's classic songs. As the name suggests, unity is at the heart of the album, and that is without a doubt the focus. Featuring Nutty O, Winky D, Rema, Skip Marley, Ami Faku, Tiwa Savage, Afro B, Teni, Oxlade, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Arya Starr and Patoranking.

What's New 7-28-23
On Natural Disaster, the debut solo album from Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, the Los-Angeles based singer/songwriter takes close account of the endless catastrophes and upheavals of modern life, offering a high-minded and open-hearted response that makes room for compassion, imagination, and a radical sense of possibility.
Atlanta quintet Sevendust may be one of the most reliable bands in heavy music, putting out a dependable brand of riff-heavy rock album after album and tour after tour. Yet Truth Killer hits different. The band’s first album on Napalm Records captures the aggression for which it’s known while also infusing melodic risk-taking that elevates the sound.
While packing classic deathcore elements, it’s obvious the band are pushing their sound into the future. The industrial, more experimental elements may put off more ‘meat and potatoes’ deathcore fans, but it’s impressive to see Signs of the Swarm branch out into a somewhat under-mixed genre. Certainly, their most gripping and impressive work to date.
Susto chronicle seasons of transformation within their distinct, diverse, and dynamic breed of rock ‘n’ roll enlivened in broad strokes of classic songwriting, storytelling and dalliances of sonic unpredictability. The band—led by frontman and songwriter Justin Osborne—explore change physically, emotionally, and spiritually on their fifth full–length.
Love’s Holiday sits proudly in Oxbow’s 35–year–old musical arsenal. It is deeply personal yet thoroughly accessible and relatable, all wrapped in the energy, hostility and vivacity that the band have always had. It’s a record that is packed full of simply brilliant songs that will undoubtedly become favorite Oxbow tracks both onstage and on record for the rest of time.
With such an infectious energy it’s clear the brothers have poured their heart and soul into The Winding Way, managing to synthesize all that works about the group in a loving melting pot of blues, soul and rock. Even if it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, when all involved are having such a blast, it’s hard not to have a smile on your face with musicianship of this quality.
And I For You’s 11 tracks, born out of the pandemic, thematically tackle adversity, longing, family, home, love, and an unwavering hope throughout life’s storms. Blending their signature mix of reggae, rock, funk and soul Pressing Strings showcases tremendous creative growth, maturity, and resilience backed by what will prove to be timeless lyrical messages.
