Morgan began her singing career at high school and made her first records with a foray into the country market in 1952 recording with "Plain Ol' Country Boy" Hank Penny, before signing to the Derby label to make pop records, moving to RCA in 1954. She had a debut No. 3 with her first release "That's All I Want From You" and went on to enjoy a run of nearly 20 hits in the pop charts through to 1962, including duet hits with Perry Como and Eddy Arnold.
