Having ended 2018 on a high note with the announcement of her fourth solo album On The Line—to be released March 22nd on Warner Bros. Records—Jenny Lewis has now unleashed the first taste of her highly anticipated return with the first single, “Red Bull & Hennessy
La Dispute is five close friends from the Upper Midwest with a firm passion for the concept of music and art as a medium for making new friends. As a result, La Dispute makes (or strives to make) music that is both artistically, technically, and emotionally engaging in hopes of establishing legitimate connections with any and all interested people, while encouraging dialogue between those people and themselves about things in life that truly matter and that truly last. La Dispute also carries a firm passion for the relevance of a live show, both for the bands involved and for the people in attendance, and will go to the grave believing that the environment created when strangers come together despite their differences to celebrate one important thing is invaluable and should not under any circumstances be taken for granted.

When Ex Hex exploded onto the scene with their unfettered brand of rock and riffage, the power trio for our generation had finally arrived. Made up of Mary Timony (guitar, vocals), Betsy Wright (bass, vocals), and Laura Harris (drums), the group’s 2014 debut Rips was a gleaming collection of tightly wound gems that scored Best New Music honors from Pitchfork, the top spot on Magnet Magazine’s Best of 2014 list, and No. 11 in that year’s Pazz & Jop critics poll. Near-constant touring throughout 2015 and 2016 established the band as a force to be reckoned with: an audacious three-piece distilling rock music to its essence with formidable skills and a reputation for frenzied and unabashedly fun live shows.
On It’s Real, the group’s forthcoming second album, Ex Hex’s commitment to larger-than-life riffs and unforgettable hooks remains intact, but the garage-y, post-punk approach that defined Rips has grown in scale and ambition. What started as a reaction to the blown-out aesthetic of Rips would test the sonic limits of the power trio and lead the band on a quest for a more immersive and three-dimensional sound. Vocal harmonies are layered ten tracks deep, solos shimmer and modulate atop heaving power chords, and the codas linger and stretch toward new frontiers of sound. On first listen, you might think you’ve unearthed a long-lost LP carved from the space where crunch-minded art rock and glitter-covered hard rock converge, an event horizon at the intersection of towering choruses and swaggering guitars.
Mötley Crüe is one of The World s Biggest and Most Notorious Rock Bands. They laid the foundation for their inimitable career in the '80s with their genre-bending music and relentless reputation, typifying an excess never before seen in modern music. They continued to evolve through the '90s and beyond, redefining what it meant to be storytellers in music, with the release of their NY Times Best-selling book, The Dirt, in 2001. This page-turning rock epic offered a glimpse into The Crüe s iconic lives and has now become a Netflix original movie, giving fans a chance to reconnect with the band they know and love in an unprecedented way. As a band they have released nine studio albums, seven of which are certified platinum or multi-platinum, selling over 100 million copies worldwide; 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits; six Top 20 pop singles; a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; three Grammy nominations for Best Hard Rock Performance; and countless sold-out tours across the globe during their 30 plus years on the road, playing to millions and generations of fans. Besides their hook-filled, groundbreaking music, Mötley Crüe s image pioneered an attitude, fashion sense and lifestyle all of which are portrayed throughout the film capturing the nostalgia.
Debut album from ATO's priority developing artist, Nilüfer Yanya. Taking her inspiration from iconic songwriters such as Nina Simone and Jeff Buckley as well as modern influences Connan Mockasin and The Strokes, Nilüfer's music incorporates the city’s urban edge with beautiful wandering guitar lines, downtrodden soulful and jazz flickered melodies, on top of minimalist and atmospheric beats. Releasing 3/22 via ATO Records
As with 2012's engrossing Mr. M and 2016's staggering FLOTUS, Kurt Wagner's openness to unexpected collaborators to give his thoughts and feelings the shape they need was central to the creation of This (is what I wanted to tell you). In the summer of 2017, Wagner re-met Matthew McCaughan, who has spent the last decade drumming for the likes of Bon Iver and Hiss Golden Messenger. McCaughan told Wagner he had been adventuring inside the world of rack-mounted analogue synthesizers and asked if Wagner might send some vocals to which he could compose. They became instant musical pen pals, with Wagner sending him a cappella takes of new song ideas and McCaughan dispatching long-form synthesizer pieces for inspiration. McCaughan eventually headed to Nashville, where, together, they put a band behind the songs, using pedal steel and piano and the harmonica of Nashville legend Charlie McCoy to color in the spaces of these black-and-white sketches.
2018 marked the 35th anniversary for Megadeth, one of the most influential powerhouses in thrash metal. All year long the band celebrated with various events, culminating in Warheads on Foreheads - with Dave Mustaine personally A&R’ing a new anthology honoring his legacy - 35 tracks for 35 years, on 3CD, Digital and 4LP. For the first time, a Megadeth anthology includes tracks from The System Has Failed, United Abominations, Endgame, Th1rt3en, Super Collider and the Grammy award winning Dystopia. “Warheads on foreheads” is a military term expressed when bombing missions are underway.
Significant Changes is a blend of vintage drum machine funk drawing heavily on Chicagos house blueprint - a natural progression from a string of EPs both solo and alongside her friend and mentor DJ Fett Burger.Hailing from the small town of Grand Forks, British Columbia - some 6 hours outside Vancouver - Jayda Guy grew up surrounded by nature, which sparked an early interest in biology. In 2018 she completed her Masters in Resource and Environmental Management specializing in environmental toxicology, wherein she specifically studied the effects of human activity on the Salish Sea killer whales (orcas) of Vancouver, BC. It was also the year that she finished recording her debut album as Jayda G - Significant Changes.
For his feelgood third solo album We Wanna BeHyp-No-Tized, Pavement co-founder Scott Kannberg best known to the musical world as Spiral Stairs concocted some of the most fun and accessible music of his storied career by expanding his musical repertoire. We Wanna Be Hyp-No-Tized is fun, infectious and musically compelling, while still managing to cover some hefty topics like the current rambunctious political climate. Reuniting the bulk of the dream team who assisted him on Doris & The Daggers bassist Matthew Harris (Oranger, The Posies), multi instrumentalist Tim Regan and good friend Kelley Stoltz, as well as former touring Preston School Of Industry drummer Jim Lindsay We Wanna Be Hyp-No-Tized is the most fully rendered encapsulation to date of Spiral Stairs inimitable aesthetic.
Sam Beam, aka Iron & Wine, released Our Endless Numbered Days, his second in March of 2004. It followed his hushed, literate, intimate, melodic, 2002 debut album, The Creek Drank the Cradle, a quiet treasure which, with its unaffected candor and depth, found fans all over. Our Endless Numbered Days was recorded both at Sam’s Miami home and in Chicago’s Engine Studios with Brian Deck (Red Red Meat, Modest Mouse, Ugly Casanova, etc.) On it, Sam is aided and abetted by his then touring and recording conspirators: his sister Sarah Beam, Patrick McKinney, Jeff McGriff, EJ Holowicki, and Jonathon Bradley. Listening to Our Endless Numbered Days makes plain Sam’s deft touch with words and melody; one that allows him to turn out stories about love, loss, faith, or the lack of it that are at once personal and universal, set to music that is sweetly haunting and timeless. Our Endless Numbered Days is the first Iron & Wine album to be recorded in a professional studio, and it has sold over 460,000 copies (556,000+ including streaming) as of December, 2018. This reissue features the original album, plus eight previously unreleased demo versions and a 12-page booklet with an essay about the album by Amanda Petrusich.
Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves's self-titled debut album is a powerful opening statement. The record not only showcases the duo's impressive musicianship, but is a reflection on which voices we seek to hear as we explore the expansive, diverse canon of American roots music. The album's 13 tracks feature lesser-known American fiddle and banjo songs from African American duo Nathan Frazier & Frank Patterson, centenarian Arkansas fiddler Violet Hensley, bluegrass pioneer Alice Gerrard, contemporary master tunesmith Judy Hyman (The Horse Flies), and more. Already leaders in the young generation of roots musicians, de Groot has become known for her intricate clawhammer banjo work with Molsky's Mountain Drifters, while Hargreaves has brought her powerhouse fiddling to the stage with Gillian Welch and Laurie Lewis. Together they create a sound that is adventurous, masterful, and original, as they expand on the eccentricities of these old songs, while never losing sight of what makes them endure.
Now with over a billion streams of his music globally and being named Billboard’s “Chart-Breaker” in October, Deanhas topped local and international charts with ‘Be Alright’. The single was announced last week by ARIAas the fourth highest selling single in Australia and the second highest selling single from an Australian artist in 2018. Achieving GOLD certification by RIAA in the USA in December‘Be Alright’ is still charging up the charts hitting Top 40 at Billboard.
Combining the lulling ambience of shoegaze with the iconic melodies and vocal prowess of classic American country music, enigmatic outlaw cowboy - Orville Peck, croons love and loss from the badlands of North America. The resulting sound is one completely his own, taking the listener down dusty rose-colored desert highways, through a world where worn out gamblers, aloof road-dogs and lovesick hustlers drift in and out of his masked gaze. Orville’s upcoming debut album, Pony, delivers a diverse collection of stories that sing of heartbreak, revenge and the unrelenting tug of the cowboy ethos. Warm lap steel guitars and echoing drums move through dreamy ballads, campfire lullabies and sometimes frantic buzzsaw tunes, all the while paying homage to his country music roots. Orville’s music has been featured by Nylon magazine, ID mag, Vice, The Needle Drop, as well as numerous Apple Music and Spotify playlists. He has also had magazine features in New York’s Hello Mr. and the UK’s Notion.
Bernard Herrmann, (Citizen Kane, Psycho, Taxi Driver), was one of the most original and distinctive composers ever to work in film. Vertigo is arguably Herrmann’s piece de resistance, and inarguably one of the greatest pieces of film music ever released. For Vertigo’s 60th anniversary, this LP has been remastered from the original analog tapes pressed at RTI on to 180 gm vinyl, and slipped into a classic tip-on jacket from Stoughton Press. Vertigo has never looked or sounded better.
Where the Sunshine Is Expensive is the debut recording of acclaimed powerhouse trombonist/vocalist Aubrey Logan on Resonance Records. Coined "The Queen of Sass" in the press, Logan was a featured guest on Dave Koz’s #1 selling contemporary jazz album, Summer Horns II: From A to Z, and her debut solo album Impossible (2017) charted in the Top 10 on the iTunes and Billboard jazz charts. Where the Sunshine Is Expensive was recorded live at the legendary EastWest Studios in Los Angeles in front of an intimate audience and captures an exciting blend of pop, jazz and R&B tunes that tell a story about Hollywood from Logan's unique perspective. Dave Koz says, "Aubrey is that rare artist who comes along once in a very long while. She truly makes you stop in your tracks. With such a communicative voice and style and a great sense of musical adventurousness, combined with unmatched technique, there’s really no emotion she can’t tackle musically. She’s the total package. Oh, and then there’s the trombone! She’s in a class all by herself.
Cows On Hourglass Pond was recorded between January - March 2018 by Dave Portner at Laughing Gas in Asheville, NC on a Tascam 48 half-inch reel-to-reel tape machine. The album was mixed by Adam McDaniel and Dave Portner at drop of sun in Asheville, NC.
