Norah Jones’ seventh solo studio album Pick Me Up Off The Floor features collaborators from Brian Blade to Jeff Tweedy, and grew out of her acclaimed singles series of the past 2 years as the songs she hadn’t yet released unexpectedly congealed into an album of tremendous depth and beauty connected by the sly groove of her piano trios, lyrics that confront loss and portend hope, and a mood that leans into darkness before ultimately finding the light.
Best known as the charismatic lead singer and co-writer of UK band Savages, who received Mercury Prize nominations for both of their now-classic two albums Silence Yourself (2013) and Adore Life (2016), Jehnny Beth's voice, lyrical perspective, and incredible live performances have captivated audiences since the early Aughts. But it's in To Love Is To Live that Jehnny Beth truly steps into - and claims - the spotlight. The album is a sonic tour de force, a dark cinematic meditation on the strange business of being alive. Throughout the record, she explores the deepest reaches of her creative consciousness... wrapped in a whirlwind of sounds. Indeed, in accessing those darkest and least comfortable parts of herself, Jehnny Beth has created a piece of work that is stunningly cathartic, fiercely abrasive, delicately exposed, and rich for discourse.

Rated PG is a collection of Peter Gabriel songs from the movies. Having always loved the combination of film and music (aged 17 he gave up a place at film school to pursue a career in music) Peter Gabriel’s first opportunity to really marry these twin interests came when he was asked to create the music for Alan Parker’s film Birdy in 1985. Further film work, including his music for Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ (that became the album Passion) and the soundtrack to Philip Noyce’s film Rabbit-Proof Fence (released as the album Long Walk Home), has continued to feed that interest. “I have always loved film and any chance I have been offered to work with good film projects and good directors I have jumped at. This is a mixture of songs that have been written for specific films, and existing songs that found an appropriate place in a story. Consequently, there is a mix of different styles and moods.” – Peter Gabriel Alongside those longer soundtrack commissions Peter Gabriel has also regularly contributed songs to a diverse range of movies and Rated PG explores this other connection forged by Peter between his music and film. Rated PG is an opportunity to bring together in one place, for the first time, a selection of songs written especially for, or used to notable effect in, movies and includes new and previously unreleased versions, otherwise unavailable songs and a brand new track. Originally released for Records Store Day in April 2019, where the album was a single LP picture disc in a die-cut sleeve the album is now being released as a CD and standard black vinyl LP. The LP has been half-speed mastered by Matt Colton at Metropolis Mastering and comes as 180g vinyl and a hi-res download code.

After a remarkable two-year run that saw them earn a Grammy Award nomination for their last chart-topping studio album while touring the world from Nashville to New Zealand and back again, Larkin Poe have returned with what is undeniably their most wide-reaching, artistically adventurous, and self-determined work to date. Once again taking the producer reins and releasing on their own Tricki-Woo Records label, Self Made Man sees the multi-instrumentalist sister duo, comprised of the Atlanta-bred, Nashville-based Rebecca and Megan Lovell, pushing their music and message towards hitherto unexplored terrain, inspired by their epic world travels yet still powerfully rooted in the creative heritage of their beloved American South. From the thunderous power of the album-opening "She's A Self Made Man," through the nostalgic "Tears of Blue to Gold" and fierce Chicago blues of "Scorpion," to the front porch jubilation of "Easy Street," the album is ambitious in both it's eclectic, energetic sound and it's resolutely welcoming mission, it's universal lyrical approach fueled by tradition, invention, and Larkin Poe's remarkable ability to touch the hearts and souls of their fellow humans worldwide.

Australia's Aversions Crown are back with their 4th full length album "Hell Will Come For Us All". Produced by Will Putney (Fit for an Autopsy, Thy Art is Murder etc), the band's new album separates them from the rest of the blackened deathcore genre with a technically onerous sound they have developed over the last decade
“Music has just been a part of my life since I was very young—it's been like my football or my soccer,” says Sammy Brue. “I stopped going to school to do it. Because I thought, If I could put seven hours a day into music, imagine where it's going to take me…”
Imagine, indeed. Since writing his first song at the age of 11, Brue has released three homespun EPs, his New West full-length debut, I Am Nice and a 2018 EP, Down with Desperation. In the process, the Ogden, Utah native has been hailed as an “Americana prodigy” by Rolling Stone and one of the “teenagers shaping pop” by The New Yorker.
But these myriad accomplishments may have just been the setup for what is arguably his finest work to date, Crash Test Kid. Brue has always been an artist seemingly wise beyond his years, but on Crash Test Kid he often gets at the heart of a matter or melody with just a simple but insightful turn of phrase or cleverly-picked guitar.

Bibio performs the following on Sleep On The Wing: Acoustic guitar / Tenor acoustic guitar / Baritone acoustic guitar / Baritone electric guitar / Bass guitar / Mandolin / Mandola / Octave mandolin / Violin / Viola / Cello / Piano / Rhodes / Wurlitzer / Minimoog / Mellotron / Alto saxophone / Clarinet / Voice

The album contains 12 tracks produced by Jack with additional production on several tracks by Jacknife Lee, long-time friend James Flannigan, and Brett Cox. The album compiles all four individual volumes of Love, Death & Dancing and kicks off with the lead single “Time.” Garratt showcased many of the new songs earlier this year at two special underplays in the US before a UK and European tour in February and March 2020. He’ll also appear at Splendour in the Grass in Australia in July.
“A solid relationship is when someone has your back and will stand by your side no matter what,” explains Boney James about the title of his new CD. Solid is the four-time GRAMMY nominated, multi-platinum selling saxophonist’s seventeenth album as a leader. It follows up his smash 2017 release Honestly (which became his eleventh #1 Billboard Contemporary Jazz Album). With eleven original songs and featuring R&B star Kenny Lattimore on the single “Be Here”, the record is an uplifting collection. Says James, “This new music is a reaction to how stressful the world feels these days. Music is a respite, it’s always ‘solid’ and it never lets me down.

Shred guitar pioneer Michael Angelo Batio will release "More Machine Than Man" on June 12th, 2020 via Rat Pak Records. The album features 13 new studio tracks and is the highly anticipated follow up to 2013's "Intermezzo". "More Machine Than Man" is an all instrumental shred guitar album that's sure to resonate with Michael's past fans, as well as garner new fans along the way. From the infectious guitar riffs from album openers "Laser Guided" and "The Badlands", to the crushing bonus-track finale of "No Backup Plan" Michael has created something truly special.
Mixed and Mastered by longtime Batio engineer Chris Wisco, the album also features guest performances by Chris Adler (Lamb of God), lending his drum skills on the tracks "More Machine Than Man" and "The Two Sirens". Also appearing on the album is renowned bassist Victor Wooten who performs on "AVTD", and guitar virtuoso Andrea Martongelli who guest solos on "The Countdown Is On". Regarding the release, Michael comments, "This is the most "in your face" album I have ever recorded. I limited the use of keyboards so you can hear the detail and precision of the rhythm guitars. My goals were to write the best songs I could, keep the tracks as raw and natural as possible and make the grooves relentless! I'm borrowing a quote by former NITRO singer Jim Gillette that I think describes "More Machine Than Man" perfectly - "If this album doesn't rock your socks off, call the coroner 'cause you must be dead!" With heavy rhythm riffs, blazing guitar solos and rock-solid grooves "More Machine Than Man" delivers all the power and punch that one would expect from this high-level player and is sure to be a favorite of shred lovers around the globe!
Kurt Rosenwinkel Trio - Angels Around traverses new musical frontiers in the standard jazz idiom. While Rosenwinkel, Hutchinson, and Deidda embody and emote the rich traditions of jazz at its purest form, make no mistake, this music is thoroughly contemporary, focused, and for the here and now.
The first thing you hear on the brand new EP from Fort Collins punk duo Plasma Canvas is the wild, visceral scream that kicks off opening song "Killer Majestic". It's a burst of pure, primal emotion that sounds like vocalist/guitarist Adrienne Rae Ash's actual throat is escaping from her body into the big, bad world outside." This is Plasma Canvas' debut release with SideOneDummy Records.
Marking their 20th year as a band, Maserati returns with their first new album in five years. Produced by the band and mixed by Grammy-winning producer, John Congleton (Explosions In The Sky, Swans, Angel Olsen), Enter The Mirror is Maserati's most compelling mélange of triumphant guitar hooks, abstract synth-pop, and Wax Trax-inspired noise anthems. The gated drums of Phil Collins and chorus-drenched guitars of INXS were prominent influences on Enter The Mirror, paired to magnificent effect with the increasingly dystopian lyrical themes (which, ironically, were also massive influences on popular music in the 1980s, and feel ever more relevant now). In addition to longtime members Coley Dennis, Matt Cherry, Chris McNeal, and Mike Albanese, Maserati are joined by friends and collaborators, Bill Berry (R.E.M.), Owen Lange, and Alfredo Lapuz Jr. Self-reflection and loss of control as both a positive and negative aspect of modern existence is at the heart of Enter The Mirror. It is Maserati's most efficient and cohesive album, and a monumental accomplishment for a band who have weathered many storms throughout their first two decades - and found the will to not just keep moving, but to move with style and chase.
On Room for the Moon, Kate NV follows the muse of music from one chamber of illusion to the next, harmonizing lunar lullabies with a starry compositional choreography. Conjured from unlived memories of '70s and '80s Russian and Japanese pop music and film, Room for the Moon is a 20th century fairy tale suspended in time like a moon torn from a paper sky. CD edition includes extended, and single, versions of "Sayonara" and "Tea."
Kidbug is Marina Tadic (Eerie Wanda), Adam Harding (Dumb Numbers), Thor Harris (Swans) and Bobb Bruno (Best Coast). Born from the romance of Tadic and Harding, together with Harris and Bruno they make self-described "cuddlebug sludge", the harmoniously spiky offspring of Harding's fuzzy guitar grunge-gaze and Tadic's dreamy left field pop. Kidbug's roots date back to December 2018. While at Joyful Noise Recordings' Indianapolis label headquarters for their annual holiday party, Australian transplant Adam Harding was first introduced to the Croatian-born, Netherlands-based artist Marina Tadic. "We all convened at Postal Recording in Indianapolis to record Christmas songs for the label, and it just sort of grew from there," Harding explains. When Tadic learned that Harding was also an accomplished video maker, she asked if he would make a video for Eerie Wanda before she was due to leave town. According to Tadic, the creative sparks started flying immediately, inspiring a series of long-distance musical love letters. The initial results were raw, personal, and naked in their emotional honesty, with a purity of expression that Tadic and Harding were eager to preserve. "We made a pact that whatever came out, we wouldn't second guess it," says Harding. Adds Tadic: "We were inspired by the honesty and purity of John and Yoko singing love songs to each other. We wrote these songs for each other, and there was no reason to overthink them or purposefully obscure the lyrics, which made both the writing and recording process really fun and spontaneous." To achieve full cohesion, strong rhythmic components were required: Best Coast's Bobb Bruno was recruited for bass and additional guitar, and 2019 Joyful Noise Artist in Residence Thor Harris was tapped for drums and percussion. "Thor was the glue that brought everyone together. He was our first and only choice for a drummer," Harding emphasized. The album was recorded in 3 days at Postal Recording in Indianapolis, with Tadic once again flying out from the Netherlands, and Thor Harris coming up from his home in Austin, Texas. Melvins' legend Dale Crover makes a special guest appearance behind the kit on the album's closing track "Dreamy." Kidbug's debut LP is fueled by a deeply charged electrical love, and the band hopes to return that magical energy to listeners. "This album is a celebration of love. All of my songs with Dumb Numbers have been about endings, but Kidbug is about beginnings," Harding shared. "We hope to bring love into the world with this album," Tadic adds. "We dig love."
Following the release of Jay Som's critically acclaimed sophomore album, Anak Ko (2019), the band's creative force, Melina Duterte, is already back with 2 beautiful new songs. "A Thousand Words" and "Can't Sleep" both give listeners a crystal clear reminder as to what made Jay Som one of the most popular indie acts of the last few years. "'A Thousand Words' was made after a year of extensive touring plus a cancelled tour," explains Duterte. "I forced myself to make a sort of big and jovial song to bring me out of the funk I was in - I also wanted to remind myself that music can be fun!. Heavily inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Elliott Smith, Pavement and that song 'Alright' by Supergrass." Colored vinyl (clear blue) with download card.

GoGo Penguin the instrumental trio from Manchester, England consisting of Chris Illingworth (piano), Rob Turner (drums) and Nick Blacka (bass have fielded plaudits and rave reviews for inspiration and originality at every turn since 2013. Now back with their self-titled album out on May 1st, which signifies their conviction that they've struck upon the motherlode, hit the jackpot, stepped up and generally arrived at a point they've always striven for but never quite attained before.

Ambrose Akinmusire follows his acclaimed, genre-busting 2018 manifesto, Origami Harvest, with another visionary statement on his new album `on the tender spot of every calloused moment'. The trumpeter examines blackness on an uncompromising set of modern jazz laced with a heavy blues feeling. The album presents 11 new compositions by Akinmusire, featuring his quartet - pianist Sam Harris, bassist Harish Raghavan, drummer Justin Brown - with guest vocals from Genevieve Artadi and Jesus Diaz.
It's auspicious that Sonic Boom'the solo project and nom-deproducer of Peter Kember (Spectrum, Spacemen 3)'returns in 2020 with it's first new LP in three decades. Kember's drawn to the year's numerological potency, and this intentionality shines into every corner of All Things Being Equal. It's a meditative, mathematical record concerned with the interconnectedness of memory, space, consumerism, consciousness'everything. Through regenerative stories told backwards and forwards, Kember explores dichotomies zen and fearsome, reverential of his analog toolkit and protective of the plants and trees that support our lives. Sonic Boom's second album and first for Carpark began in 2015 as electronic jams. The original sketches of electronic patterns, sequenced out of modular synths, were so appealing that Stereolab's Tim Gane encouraged Kember to release them instrumentally. 'I nearly did,' confesses Kember, 'but the vibe in them was so strong that I couldn't resist trying to ice the cake.' Three years later, a move to Portugal saw him dusting off the backing tracks, adding vocals inspired by Sam Cooke, The Sandpipers, and the Everly Brothers (which he admits 'don't go far from the turntable pile'), as well as speculative, ominous spoken word segments

Magnetic System were a sort of supergroup founded in the second half of the '70s, consisting of three of the greatest Italian composers, musicians, arrangers and producers: Vince Tempera, Franco Bixio and Fabio Frizzi. This wasn't their only artistic collaboration, but under the name of Magnetic System only a 7-inch had been released in 1977, containing the two tracks "Godzilla" and "Escape".
The first track "Godzilla" is very peculiar, taken from the soundtrack of a rare '77 movie conceived and realized by director Luigi Cozzi, who was specialized in underground low-cost productions, mainly active in the science fiction field: starting from the 1954 "Gojira" movie, he completely re-edited it by adding new footage, slowing down some sequences and colouring it's frames, transforming the original product into something fully acid and psychedelic, that perfectly fit the trio's music, a space-krautrock lysergic trip exclusively made with keyboards and synthesizers. On the flip side, "Escape", is a track that was included in the soundtrack of the 1977 films "Operazione Kappa: sparate a vista" (internationally distributed as "Day of Violence") and "Ecco noi per esempio": an exciting heavy-funk song with a pulsating bass and futuristic/cosmic synth soundscapes. This 45rpm is today one of the rarest in the entire Cinevox catalogue, and it is officially reissued for the first time ever for the Record Store Day 2020! A beautiful discovery that demonstrates once again that the '70s never cease to surprise!
