Legendary artist, Raincoats co-founder, songwriter, filmmaker, and feminist icon Gina Birch has announced her eagerly awaited second solo album, Trouble, arriving via Third Man Records on Friday, July 11. Pre-orders are available now. Trouble is heralded by todays premiere of the albums blistering centerpiece, Causing Trouble Again, available for streaming now. An official music video directed by famed photographer/filmmaker Dean Chalkley and featuring an all-star collective of fellow female artists including Birchs longtime friend and co-founder of The Raincoats, Ana da Silva, Neo Naturists co-founder Christine Binnie, singer-songwriter Amy Rigby, X-Ray Spex and Essential Logic co-founder Lora Logic, painter Daisy Parris, artist Georgina Starr, writer Jill Westwood, multi-disciplinary artist and activist Bobby Baker, award-winning costume designer Annie Symons, veteran photographer and Raincoats collaborator Shirley OLoughlin, and many more is streaming now on YouTube. For the Causing Trouble Again video, after hearing Bob Dylan sing about a white ladder all covered with water, I became obsessed with white ladders, Gina Birch says. I decided to use five white ladders, three with seven rungsI realized later that this references Jacobs Ladder and a connection from Earth to heaven, but I think I was thinking of ladders as a symbol of getting on, getting up. I wanted to have a choreographed movement with four of us with these ladders. How do we move with ladders? Do we move together, do we fight, do we dance? I also wanted to reference the wind scene from the film, The Colour of Pomegranates, and to include as many artist women from the Women in Revolt exhibition as I could. I wanted them to be troublesome, or just to shout Causing trouble! I ended up inviting all the artist musician women I knew who could make the shoot, and it was a fantastic meeting of great women, many of whom had never met each other before. Causing Trouble Again was inspired by 2024s Women in Revolt, an exhibition of feminist art and activism at Tate Britain which included one of Birchs most recognized art pieces, 1977s 3 Minute Scream, a landmark short film in which she stares down the camera and, as the title suggests, screams for the duration of a Super 8 cartridge. Birch created the epic six-minute track by inviting several female artists, including experimental music pioneer Cosey Fanni Tutti and writer/painter Caroline Coon, to record themselves saying the names of women who have inspired them women who have indeed caused trouble.
Americas favorite masked guitar slingers, Los Straitjackets, are back with Somos Los Straitjackets, their first album of original material in over a decade. Channeling the eternal spirit of surf rock while riding their own unmistakable wave, Somos Los Straitjackets delivers fifteen tracks of twang-drenched riffs. From the sun-scorched intensity of Polaris to the funky undertow of Two Steps Ahead, Somos Los Straitjackets is a sonic adventure that captures the freedom, danger, and endless horizon of a band at their creative peak. Tracks like Spinout and High Wire Act demonstrate why Los Straitjackets have reigned as the kings of modern instrumental rock for over thirty years with shimmering tremolo, relentless drum grooves, and hooks so catchy they dont need lyrics to get stuck in your head. Produced with a vintage touch but packed with fresh intensity, Somos Los Straitjackets is both a love letter to surf rocks golden era and a bold new ride into uncharted waters. This limited edition hypnowheel picture disc is exclusive to independent record stores and limited to 500 copies worldwide.

It was winter in Manhattan. The streets were frozen and still the band rode bicycles to the Power Station on 53rd and back to Brooklyn for three weeks. Three weeks that would mark the birth of Double Infinity - the album that constitutes a grand departure for Big Thief. An ultramodern community of musicians gathered in the warm wooden room where Bruce once stood. They all tracked together simultaneously improvising arrangements and making collective discoveries.
Laraaji created drones with zither and an iPad and sang intuitive vocal melodies. Joshua Crumbly played bass; Mikey Buishas made live tape loops and played keys; Mikel Patrick Avery, Jon Nellen, and Caleb Michel played percussion; Adam Brisbin played guitar; and Hannah Cohen, Alena Spanger and June McDoom sang background vocals. Along with core members Adrianne, Buck, and James, the group played for nine hours a day. Double Infinity is the archive of this play. It could only have been produced, engineered, and mixed by longtime Big Thief collaborator Dom Monks.
Double Infinity, reaches into the idea of inner and outer worlds, and the body as the bridge. It speaks to the purgatory created by the human brain, always looking to the past or future, between the things weve lost and the things we want, between desire and regret. Beauty speak to me, let me know you, let me see myself inside your mystery, through the crystal cage of aging. It calls for true beauty to speak, not fabricated, conditioned ideas of beauty. At the bridge between what is forming and what is fading, between losing and of gaining, mourning and celebrating, perhaps there is solace in the eye behind the essence, still, unmovable, that which is unchanging, outside of time. Is it love?

Evangelic Girl is a Gun sees Ćmiel putting their own cyborgian spin on Bristol trip-hop and 90s gothic. The album features production from A.G.
